Avengers: Age of Ultron – Place Your Bets

During the various SDCC announcements the Polish ninja and I were contemplating Ultron being the big bad guy in the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of  Ultron. Knowing full well that an Ant-Man movie was in the works, but supposed to be AFTER The Avengers sequel threw us off. The ninja is more of a Marvel comics reader than I, and was worried about Ultron being around before his creator Hank Pym, who was supposed to make his big screen debut in The Avengers sequel.

So how will this all work?

Age Of Ultron issue 1 var2 comic book coverJoss Whedon has already commented on several occasions (and fan sites) that this is a separate story from the current comics continuity, so the burden of the Hank Pymn back story is relieved. Now it’s time to throw down and bet on how they will make Ultron work for the big screen. Here’s my theory:

The story is actually all in the original story starting with Avengers #54 in 1968. Ultron hypnotizes Jarvis and attacks the Avengers with a weapon called the Vision.

So how will this work on screen?

Easy, take the terminator approach. We are all awaiting the day of the singularity, so capitalize on it and have Ultron show up, Jarvis is a program, so he can be hacked/reprogrammed by the evil entity known as Ultron, and then using Stark-tech, he can construct a body and attack the Avengers using Jarvis and call it The Vision. Jarvis already cracked the SHIELD computers so I’m sure Ultron will grow from there. And don’t forget, Tony was injecting nanobots to control the Iron Man armor in Iron Man 3, so the Avengers might have to fight more Iron Man armors and even Tony himself.

What about The Vision?

We also heard from SDCC that Vin Diesel will be playing the cyborg Avenger. I’m on the fence about this particular aspect. Either the Vision is going to be the weapon that Ultron uses, or a creation that the Avengers wind up making to fight Ultron. Either way, the vision will mumble and be able to drive really well.

Sorry Hank, but the Marvel universe is peopled with science geniuses. Unfortunately, Tony Stark is beloved by audiences, and they probably don’t want him one-upped up by some Ant-guy. We have the billionaire Iron Man who runs Stark industries and also in Avengers is Bruce Banner had to track down gamma radiation to find Loki’s portal machine. There’s no more room for a guy who invents the killer android.

And that’s my conjecture on how the next Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, will go. Anyone got a theory? Let me know! Comment below, or write on our Facebook Wall.
